Noosa Public Transport

Transport Journey Planner

The transport journey planner will plan the best journey for you, Just type in your departure and arrival details and the best combination of bus, train and walk will be calculated. The planner works for the whole South East Queensland area so can be used if arriving from Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

Sunbus

An excellent hail and ride bus service is operated by Sunbus (131230 or 5492 8700) and connects most areas. The central bus station is located in Noosa Junction at the corner of Sunshine Beach Road and Lanyana Way where full bus timetables are posted. During the Christmas and Easter period many of the routes are free, as part of a policy of reducing traffic congestion in Hastings Street. Sunbus timetables are also available on the Trans Link web site. Just check out the journey planner link above.

Trains

Trains do not run right to Noosa, the closest train stations are Nambour, Eumundi or Cooroy. There are only a couple of trains a day that go as far as Eumundi & Cooroy but if you can get one of those you are only about a 20 minute bus ride away from Noosa. There are lots of trains a day from Brisbane to Nambour which are connected to Noosa by bus. Please use the transport planner which will work out the best combination of train and bus. Queensland transport operates a paperless ticket system called Go Card. You can still buy a paper ticket on board but if you are planning on travelling quite a bit by public transport it is worth investing in a Go Card as the cost to travel is considerably less. Also if you can travel in off peak times or on the weekends your cost will be further reduced. Go Cards can be bought from Railway stations, Seven Eleven stores and some newsagencies. Top ups to the card can be made on line or at ticket machines in railway stations. You can find out more about the Go Card system by clicking the transport planner link above.
