Noosa Cycling


    Noosa is a great place to cycle whether you are looking for an easy jaunt along the river or you wish to don your spandex and get serious. Noosa Council have made a number of cycle routes which are well signposted. The routes are a mixture of constructed cycle paths, pavements and roads. Cycle ways have also been built for Noosa Hinterland and the coastal areas. At the bottom of the page we have listed some places where you can rent bikes, but before you think about that, why don’t we wet your appetite with some great cycle rides around the area.

    Noosa Hinterland Cycle Routes

  • 1. Surf Beaches Trail Route: Peregian Beach to Noosa Junction
    Distance: 12.5km
    This route is mainly off the road on a coastal bikeway. The cycle route follows the coast with excellent views of the Pacific Ocean. It starts at Peregian Beach Surf Club.

  • 2. The River Ride Route: Tewantin to Noosa Heads
    Distance: 6.5km
    This is a lovely, easy cycle ride along the Noosa River finishing that finishes near the National Park and Hastings Street. The Noosa River Ride starts at Tewantin Information Centre and goes to Lions Park.

  • 3. The Waters Ride Route: Circuit of Noosa Waters
    Distance: 5km
    Look at the most expensive properties in Noosa Waters, where waterfront houses sell for millions! All easily seen on the estate road with its cycle path.This route starts at the Noosa Yacht Club.

  • 4. Mangroves and Creeks Ride Route: Gympie Terrace to Noosa Junction
    Distance: 6.8km
    This great ride takes you past the mangroves at Weyba Creek. It is easy and safe with most of the route taking you along cycle paths or quiet side streets. This route starts at Noosa Parade.

  • 5. Noosa North Shore Wilderness Route:Tewantin to Noosa North Shore (and back)
    Distance: 15km Return
    The ride is excellent for kangaroo spotting. The route takes you across the Noosa Ferry and along the road on the other side to Noosa North Shore. This ride starts and ends at Tewantin Information Centre.

  • 6. Mount Tinbeerwah Route: Tewantin to Mount Tinbeerway (and back)
    Distance: 20km Return.
    This route is steep and hard but the views from Mount Tinbeerwah lookout and the cycle back down make it all worthwhile. We love this cycle. It is so much fun. The route starts and ends at Tewantin Information Centre.

  • Noosa Coastal Cycle Routes

  • 1. The Lakes Ride Route: Tewantin to Boreen Point and Lake Cootharaba (and back)
    Distance: 40km Return
    Although long, this is a fairly easy flat ride that eventually comes out at the small lakeside village of Boreen Point. The route starts and ends at Tewantin Information Centre.

  • 2. Noosa's World Famous Triathlon Route Route: Noosa Heads to Cooroy (and back)
    Distance: 40km Return
    This is potentially the most famous route in Noosa and has been completed by some of the top cyclists in the world. The route starts and ends at Lions Park, Noosa Heads.

  • 3. Sunrise Hills Loop Route: Tewantin to Cooroy
    Distance: 31km
    This lovely cycle through the lush Noosa Hinterland starts and ends at Tewantin Information Centre.

  • 4. Pomona Loop Route: Tewantin to Cooroy and Pomona
    Distance: 54km
    A long, gruelling, but extremely rewarding route that suits serious cyclist. The route starts and ends at Tewantin Information Centre.

    Distance: 11km
    This route starts at Cooroy Post Office.

    - So you are allowed to ride on footpaths, just not in commercial or business districts.
    - Keep left
    - Give way to pedestrians on shared paths.
    - Warn pedestrians if you are passing them and pass on the right
