Noosa Boating
Noosa River provides extensive boating opportunities. Launching facilities
are found at Tewantin by Noosa Marina, Gympie Terrace next to the
petrol station and at Munna Point inside the Noosa campsite.
Laguna Bay provides
a protected environment for fishing and other boating pleasures. Crossing
the Noosa Bar is a serious undertaking and must be done with extreme caution.
The bar is shallow with shifting sands and best crossed at high tide in gentle
surf. Noosa Coastguard (07 5449 7670) provides an excellent rescue service
and monitor all bar crossings with a camera. You should contact Noosa Coastguard
on Channel 88 prior to attempting a crossing. Their HQ is located at Munna
Point just through the campsite. Noosa Coastguard will escort you across the
Noosa Bar on your first attempt if you require assistance. They also sell
a number of Noosa river maps with local points of interest and is worth buying.

Boat cruises
One of the most popular activities to do whilst in Noosa is take a river cruise
to the Everglades. The upper Noosa River is a beautiful tranquil place. The
cruise passes the township of Tewantin, then Makepeace Island recently bought
by Richard Branson and crosses Lake Cooribah and Lake Cootharaba. You then enter
the Everglades which are dark tranquil waterways providing perfect mirror reflections.
Everglade Cruises are normally a 3/4 day but the different cruise companies
have variations. Click on their link to see which option suits you best and
